Innovation Ends Statement

Peace-Liard-Stikine region will have access to resources enabling innovation to move from concept to commercialization.

Youth Ends Statement

Peace-Liard-Stikine youth will have opportunities to experience science and technology and have the confidence to pursue further science and technology related learnings.

Programs

• Idealinx - This networking program brings together community, industry, academia and government representatives at workshops encouraging and stimulating collaborative partnerships and the building of relationships with the goal of facilitating the efficient use of research dollars.
• Talentlinx - Talentlinx addresses human resource issues through connections, training and promotions. We can connect graduates of science and technology programs with enterprises in need of their expertise through the development of regional online job boards uploading to a provincial job board on the BCRSTN’s website.
• Mentorlinx - A mentoring program designed to assist regional businesses to develop, thrive and prosper through one-on-one with an experienced mentor in their field.
• Capitalinx - Companies have identified lack of access to financing as an obstacle to their growth, but often it is their lack of understanding of investors’ needs and not knowing the necessary steps to make their company attractive to investors; these and other needs can be addressed through the hands-on educational workshops.

Activities

• Developing Partnerships - Sci-Tech North is seeking out all pertinent and significant potential partners to develop the innovation culture, capacity and infrastructure in the Northeast.
• Strategic Planning and Networking - Sci-Tech North is creating opportunities for strategic planning and networking initiatives and events. We host an annual Innovation Awards and participate in many of the symposiums and Strategy sessions in the Northeast.
• Science Fairs - Sci-Tech North has supported the Regional Science Fair in the Northeast for many years. This year our support has increased with assistance to Educators Professional Development and youth projects.
• Commercialization Services - Sci-Tech North develops opportunities to create initiatives that assist with commercialization. We are developing an inventory of best practices assessment tools for entrepreneurs to use along with a Mentor program through MENTORLINX.
• Increasing the Talent - Sci-Tech North was the champion for the Fort St John pilot site project for this initiative. We also sit on the National Steering Committee for this project.
• Revamped Website - Take a look at our entirely revamped website. The functionality of this site allows us to manage the logistics for all of the professional development of our professionals in north-eastern BC, and much more. An entire section of our website is dedicated to youth and educators involved with science fairs.
