The Association of Community Living is celebrating 50 years in Fort St. John.
Executive Director Cindy Mohr says the Association was incorporated in 1960. She says before that, concerned parents used to meet in a basement, to discuss ways to improve services for their children with special needs.
To celebrate, the ACL is holding an open house on Friday. Everyone in the community can drop by, look at some historic photos, and enjoy a piece of cake.
Mohr says the ACL wanted to have an informal celebration, to acknowledge how far Fort St. John has come.
Mohr says she knows the association will be active in the community for another 50 years.
The informal celebration will go until 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Association is located at 10251-100th Avenue.
