Energeticcity.ca and Moose FM have received several reports of another early morning accident on the Alaska Highway.

According to eye witnesses, there has been another accident involving a logging truck at around Mile 95.  The RCMP have not returned our calls to confirm any of the details, but the eye witness says the accident resulted in a fire.

Alaska Highway traffic

Living up the highway and driving it everyday, it didn't surprise me that this photo shows another logging truck in the ditch. They must get paid by the load because speed and reckless driving seems to be all that some of these drivers know. On occasion I've been the victim of their tailgating (and I'll admit that I may have been over the speed limit) and dangerous passing. Having lived here all my life I know how to give truckers extra room and space. Why can't they do the same for me?! Just wished the police would go past Mile 54 more often and see how people drive when they think no one is watching.

Disregard for safety

I am right beside you on this discussion. More than enough times I have been passed by both log and oilfield semis on the double solids and in the corners. I too will admit that I have been somewhat pushed down the highway by some of these intimidators. Because they are bigger, these semi drivers figure that that 4 wheeled vehicle will just back off and give them room for cutting over. That semi driver is making a very bad name for all the true professional truck drivers out there and that includes ME! Usually I try and get the name of the company but because I am trying to stay alive by controlling the rocking and rolling of my pickup truck when they fly by,it doesnt always happen. My 2way goes unanswered when trying to communicate to that driver on the hwy channel about his skill level. Big company names need to be on the back of ALL trailers. SO... keep it up you idiots. I am MORE than willing to go to court and listen to you explain your unprofessional driving techniques to the judge and to why you need your licence. There should be more police but why take them out of the city? Why not use UNMARKED commercial transport inspector vehicles, like seized drug dealer vehicles (Mary will like that)on these highways with video cameras on the dash instead of using those bright white, huge lettered *CVSE* trucks that seem to hang around weight scales. Just my thoughts and feelings. I hope the injured have a fast recovery.
