Murder hearing postponed til September

Both Andre Paul Dupas and Pamela Joy Moore appeared by video link at the Fort St. John courthouse Wednesday morning for their respective arraignment hearings.

Dupas had been charged with second degree murder in the stabbing death of Josh Lequiere on May 20 and is currently in custody in Prince George. Moore was charged with being an accessory after the fact and is in custody in Burnaby.

The Crown Counsel, Paul Swartz, told the court that it would take until mid-August for the documents to be edited for privacy concerns as the Crown had received over three thousand pages of electronic material only ten days ago.

Family and friends of Josh Lequiere filled the courtroom for the hearings.

Many of the supporters wore t-shirts with a picture of Josh and his now four year-old son on a boat with the words “Lives Forever” written on the back.

After the hearing, Lequiere’s father, Jim, thanked everyone for attending and supporting his son, adding that it has been a difficult time for all of them.

He said his shirt contained the names of 75 people who supported his son but were unable to attend the hearing and that his family has received considerable support from everyone.

Lequiere said it’s been a very difficult time for his family and especially for his grandson, Carver, who will have to grow up without his father.

One of the biggest challenges for them is going through the long court process, he said, but that he hopes the courts rule correctly.

Both hearings have been adjourned until Sept. 1.
