The Peace Valley Lookout may soon receive the designation of a regional park.
The Province is providing just over $12,000 to help stimulate land development and economic activity for the area just outside Fort St. John through the Brownfield Renewal Funding Program.
Pat Pimm, MLA for Peace River North says the money will help clean up the area and allow it to be a great place for people to use.
The Lookout area has been used as an informal garbage dump over the past several decades, however the program will give the area a new start.
Earlier this year, the Peace River Regional District held several public meetings and Focus Corporation presented a feasbility study with improvement ideas that could cost up to $1 million.
The study by the Regional District won't be completed until next year as the board did not allocate funds for it in this year's budget.
