More photos from the Dog Jog
Anyone remember Nanook? He made the news awhile back because of his trip down a manhole. He was stuck at the bottom for a couple weeks before anyone could find him. We're so happy that he lived to "tell" his "tail" and be with us at the dog jog. What a beautiful dog he is.
Local veterinarian and dog trainer Dr. Catherine Stuart, and her family introduced us to another lucky pooch named Skipper (wearing the cone). After an accident that left him without a leg, he still managed to win the heart of someone that was willing to adopt him. We hope he is doing well in his new home.
We were also grateful to the Stuarts for sharing their agility equipment with us to try out. Many people are familiar with the Fort St. John Dog Agility club they started here, but not everyone gets out to try agility with their dogs. This was a good way to get a taste of what it's all about.
We also got to watch a fantastic demonstration, featuring Mason, our local working police dog. Corporal Derrick King and Constable Tim Paulmert put on a riveting show for us, to show how Mason does his job, and what can happen when the "bad guy" doesn't listen to the police! One of the best questions from the audience was from a little guy that REALLY wanted to know if police dogs can have chips!

Other things that kept us busy were face painting, games, and er.... food (I'm really not sure if Milk Bone, cake and hot dogs are really considered food). Trying to come up with games and activities that can be done with a dog attached to your arm all day can be a bit challenging. If anyone has some good suggestions, please email me at wheatamix@gmail.com with "dog activity ideas" in the subject line.
And... here's the rest of the photos, in no particular sequence.
That's it... oh, except for the cleanup. Ugh.
