Here's the latest on our list of needs at the shelter:

Collars and leashes (preferably nylon, but we'll take any)

Wet cat and dog food- any kind

And... check out the rest of our ongoing needs below.

Many of our dog walking supplies seem to "walk away" on their own at some point, so we are ALWAYS in need. If you plan to come dog walking this weekend and have your own leash that you could bring, please make sure it is clearly marked with your name.

Once again, I'm putting out a plea for help for our animals.

If you can spare a little time, please come down, fill out a volunteer form, and give a dog (or a few) a quick walk (at least 10 minutes). The best time to come is during the public hours, but check with staff for other times. Now that the weather is warmer, the dogs are feeling a bit more restless and any help is wonderful.

There are plenty of other opportunities for volunteers, too, even if you don't wish to work directly with the animals. Just ask what needs to be done!

  •

Also... just a reminder that if you ARE looking for a pet and can provide a good home for one, please visit us first. Foster parents are often needed, as well.

Thinking about making a donation for the animals at the SPCA?

Here are a few ideas:

Fuzzy toy mice for the cats

Jolly balls, tennis balls or any type of dog balls and toys

Stuffed animals (the dogs will destroy them- so please remove rattles and eyes).

Sturdy water buckets

Stainless steel dishes of all sizes

Dog coats and boots of ALL sizes, especially extra large or extra small

Strong nylon collars of any size and long nylon leashes. Make sure they don't have sharp edges

Monetary donations can be made at the shelter or at Peace River Building, on our account

Non-clumping cat litter

Baby weigh scale

Liquid Laundry Soap (preferably for front load washer)

Dryer sheets

Strong shelving units and Rubbermaid type totes

Hard plastic swimming pools that don't break easily (the small turtle shaped ones are good).

Got extra Canadian Tire money? We can use that, too!

The BCSPCA now has an agreement with Hills (manufacturer of Science Diet pet food) which will provide us with a consistently high quality diet for our pets, so we are not currently seeking donations of dry pet food. Any pet food that is donated will not be turned down, but may be used for other homeless or needy pets in the area, not living at the shelter. We can still used canned food of any type.

Thanks in advance!

Our hours are not the greatest for public viewing and have been subject to change lately, but if you have something you need to drop off, please feel free to contact the shelter at 250-785-7722 to make arrangements to come at any time a staff member is present.
