A freak thunderstorm left a number of streets and basements flooded in Fort St. John.

A thunderstorm moved in from the south at around 5:30pm, Thursday. The storm featured heavy rain and hail. The storm caused several flash floods in the community.

  City Manager Dianne Hunter says the worst of the flooding is over and Public Works is now dispatching all resources to mop up the mess. The storm overloaded the storm sewer system and as the system catches up she expected the water to disperse.
