There’s police confirmation of a weekend closure of the Alaska Highway, on the North Taylor Hill.

It occurred shortly before five o’clock Saturday afternoon and, was the result of an engine fire in a tractor-trailer unit, hauling a large quantity of jet fuel.

Area residents were warned but not evacuated and Highway traffic detours were set up at the Baldonnel Overpass and in Taylor, for about five hours.

Firefighters managed to contain the fire to the cab of the truck and, there were no injuries reported.
