Similar conditions are expected on the prairies and, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture says its welcome news.

President Bob Friesen says farmers need an optimum growing season this year given, high fuel and fertilizer costs.

If the forecast holds true in this region it means about 140 millimeters of rain in July, August and September, with about 45 percent of it in July.
