Hot Summer Expected

The top climatologist at Environment Canada is predicting a good summer for BC, with above average temperatures and near normal rainfall after June.

Similar conditions are expected on the prairies and, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture says its welcome news.

President Bob Friesen says farmers need an optimum growing season this year given, high fuel and fertilizer costs.

If the forecast holds true in this region it means about 140 millimeters of rain in July, August and September, with about 45 percent of it in July.

It also means the average daily high temperature will be, above the July and August norms of 21 and 20 degrees and, the September average of 15.

However, the cool showery conditions in the current five day forecast are expected to be dominant, through most of June.
