e of the few renegades in the BC liberal caucus, but after seven years on the backbench, Peace River south MLA Blair Lekstrom is now in cabinet. And Lekstrom sounds ready to toe the government line, now that he’s the new minister of community development.

Lekstrom has voted against some of his own government’s bills in the past including the Tsawwassen treaty, but premier Gordon Campbell says he won’t have that option as a member of cabinet. Other changes to the provincial cabinet include, Pat Bell who replaces Rich Coleman as minister of Forests and Range, while Coleman moves to the housing and social development portfolio. Colin Hanson replaces Carole Taylor as finance minister, and Mary Polak becomes minister of healthy living and sport.
