About 200 employees will be impacted by the decision, a majority of which will be indefinitely laid off.

However, the planer will operate for about two weeks, following the closure, to process existing rough inventory.

At current operating rates, the mill produces 176 million board feet of lumber on an annualized basis.

Canfor is also expected to close its Polar Board OSB plant in FortNelson next month and, to further adjust production schedules, at otheroperations in both BC and Alberta.
