News Child Safety Seat Rules

New child passenger safety laws take effect in BC July first and, the BCAA Traffic Safety Foundation is moving to help low income families acquire proper child car seats.

It has established the Child Car Seat Fund and, will match dollar for dollar every donation to it.

It is estimated there are 360 thousand children requiring proper child passenger safety restraints and, more than 20 percent are living in poverty.

Statistics also show over 13 hundred children, under nine years of age, are killed or injured, every year, in motor vehicle accidents.

The foundation has set aside 100 thousand dollars to match gifts from donors, to purchase and distribute car seats, to needy families.
