The BC government wants to tighten the rules around open burning.
It’s an effort to reduce smoke — and its associated fine particulate pollution — which can make people sick.
Public opinion is being gathered on the new rules, which are part of new set regulations tentatively set to take effect, province-wide.
The B-C Ministry of Environment says “sensitivity” zones might be created, severely restricting open burning in high-sensitivity regions.
