It looks like someone at the provincial finance ministry forgot to carry at least one zero. The Campbell Liberals now say they actually posted a surplus last year, of 2.9 billion dollars, far higher than the 400 million the government predicted. Finance minister Colin Hansen says the province’s economy is strong and, withstanding tough times better than the rest of Canada — or the U-S. He also says that trend should continue in the coming years. So combining this news, with the record oil and gas right sale revenue numbers, many government critics are now asking, why the Liberals need a carbon tax to fund their going green plans?
