Dam Spill Potential

Despite the current drought conditions in the North Peace, there’s still a possibility for a W.A.C. Bennett or Peace Canyon Dam summer spill. B.C. Hydro’s Dave Conway says the spill risk at both facilities is now about 3%. However, he also says….

Conway says the Williston Reservoir gets about 50% of its water from spring and summer rains. Since it covers about 35,000 square km, different parts of the reservoir can receive rain at different times, from different storms.
