issued a Province-Wide Amber Alert for a girl from Vancouver Island. They believe she may have been abducted by her suicidal stepfather. Shyanne Dawn Carto is ten years old and was reported missing by her mother shortly after 3:00 am. The girl was expected home by supper time Monday, but Courtenay RCMP Constable Tammy Douglas says her 32-year old stepfather, Jason Anthony Yank, has not yet brought her back.

Carto is Caucasian, 4 foot 10", with long dark brown hair and hazel eyes. When last seen, she was wearing jeans and a bright pink shirt. Yank is 5 foot 9" and 200 pounds with short light brown hair and hazel eyes. It is believed they are driving a 1997 White Dodge Caravan with the license plate of 352-AMS. If you see this vehicle please contact the RCMP at 911.
