The ‘Hammer’ hit the Iron, last Sunday….the Penticton Ironman Triathlon. Gord “the Hammer’ Harris made it through his second Ironman Triathlon in a time of 14:08:46 hours. He was racing with 2200 other triathletes from all over the world. They all did the 2.5 mile open water swim, 112 Mile bike and 26.2 mile marathon.

Gord’s times were: swim 1:34, bike 7:10 and run 5:06 for the total of 14:08:46 to get 51st in his age class. He last did this feat in 2006.

This will be the 18th time a local area triathlete has done an ‘Ironman’.

Janelle Morrison, a former Fort St. John resident, also did the Penticton Ironman and finished an amazing 8th overall and 1st of the 115 in her age class, passing many professional triathletes in the process. Her total time was 09:59:54 which qualify’s here for the World Championship Hawaiian Ironman, In October. She was a member of the Alberta Cycling Team and the Blizzard Bike Club before moving to Calgary.
