Organized Crime in BC

The latest snapshot of organized crime in Canada shows a pretty gloomy picture.

In B.C. alone, annual marijuana sales have reached a whopping 6 billion dollars and the country’s Criminal Intelligence Service says drug sales and identity theft are funding hundreds of gangsters nation-wide.

RCMP Sergeant Tim Shields says even the country’s garbage dumps have become fertile ground for criminals and that people should take precautions before getting rid of old computers: [asset|aid=193|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=Shields_1_Pub.mp3]

He adds that those who purchase marijuana would also do well to remember that they’re the ones responsible for the criminals’ profit who peddle it and the greed-related violence that goes with it.
