Plane Crash near Fort Liard

A plane crash near Fort Liard has killed the pilot, but the passenger survived.

Thursday a single-engine airplane crashed into a heavily wooded area about 90km from the community along the BC Northwest Territories board. The RCMP have not released the name of the pilot, but friends have confirmed Cam Lancaster was the pilot.

Cam Lancaster is the co-owner of Nahanni Butte Outfitters and guides big-game hunting trips in the Mackenzie Mountain region of the territory.

The passenger in the plane survived the crash and was able to reach authorities after the crash using a satellite phone. The passenger helped search and rescue crews find the location of the plane crash.
