At approximately 2pm Friday afternoon RCMP received a call of a swimmer who had gone missing. There are limited details at the moment but a group of friends were swimming in the Pine River near the Peace River when suddenly their friend was swept away by the current.

Currently several river boats and a helicopter are searching up and down the Peace and Pine Rivers. North Peace Search & Rescue along with the Fort St. John RCMP are participating in the search.

The Peace & Pine River are running high at the moment with strong currents. The search for the missing man will continue this evening.
