The Search for Clayton Russ – Day 4

The search has resumed for 22 year old Clayton Russ on the Pine and Peace Rivers.

The Fort St. John man went missing early Friday afternoon, while swimming with three friends, about three to four kilometers from the confluence of the two rivers.

26 North Peace Search and Rescue personnel and RCMP officers have been involved in the search and, they were joined yesterday, by a Mountie Dive Team using a Sonar scanner.

Police are asking the public to stay away from the area and constable Jackelynn Passarell has this message for boat and beach traffic…

Police indicate Clayton was not a strong swimmer and was reportedly pulled away by the river current before he could reach shore.

Once again the Pine River access is closed to boat and beach traffic today as the river boat search efforts continue.

Use of a helicopter has been ruled out because the river waters are so murky.
