The Search has now become a recovery mission for Clayton Russ

Photo: Access to the area has been closed off. This is a photo of the RCMP Dive Team helping at a previous incident.

The hope that Clayton Russ is still alive is dwindling as North Peace and Rescue and the RCMP Dive team are now working on a recovery mission.

Earlier this morning the RCMP Dive team began a recovery mission on the Pine River about 4km from where the Peace and Pine River meet. The Dive team is using sonar to help locate Clayton.

The RCMP and North Peace Search and rescue have also restricted access to the area by road and by boat. They are asking all boaters to stay away from the Pine River as it has now been closed off. Boaters may still use the Peace River.

Clayton Russ was swimming with 2 friends on Friday afternoon when he was swept away by the currents of the Peace River.
