Coaches throughout B.C. will be honoured at a number of events during BC Coaches Week, Sept. 20-27
"We proclaimed BC Coaches Week for the first time last year because the importance of these people in our sport system needs to be celebrated," said Mary Polak. "These men and women not only have the skills and expertise to guide our emerging and developing athletes at every level, they provide the leadership and motivation to ensure that these young people enjoy the experience."
Reception and recognition events will take place in communities throughout the province, including Fort St. John and Prince George. One of the focuses for this year’s BC Coaches Week is education, and each event will also provide educational opportunities for coaches.
The focus of BC Coaches Week is to recruit, develop and celebrate British Columbia’s coaches from all levels, in all sports. Events include National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) courses, workshops and other professional development opportunities.
The Fort St. John event will take place on Sunday September 28th at the North Peace Cultural Centre. There will be a number of speakers and registration is still open. Some of the speakers include Paralympian Laura Jensen, and a sport psychology session.
The event is free, but pre-registration is required. For more on the event Click Here
