About 3,000 Fort St. John homes and businesses were left in the dark earlier by a brief power outage.

The outage, which was planned to last under half an hour and affect about 800 customers, became much larger when routine maintenance of the city’s substation went slighty awry.

Bob Gammer with BC Hydro’s outage team explains.

The outage lasted about 45 minutes, halting business for many companies in town.
