The city has amended its budget for this year to include $1,300,000 for the purchase of new land for the fire hall to be built on after it was determined that none of the land the city currently owns was suitable.

The city has found a suitable location for the new Fire Hall and is currently in preliminary discussions with the owner to purchase the property. City Manager Diane Hunter says the price the land is currently being offered to the city for is very reasonable. The new funds are in addition to the city’s Five Year Capital Plan that allocates $5,000,000 dollars in the 2009 budget for the construction of a new Fire Hall, and $6,000,000 in 2010.
