With an election on our doorstep, we’ll be covering what it means to this area on Monday Morning’s Issues and Answers on 100.1 Moose FM, and online as a podcast at Energeticcity.ca.

So far, we only have two confirmed candidates for this area in the upcoming federal election – Jay Hill, from the Conservative Party, had held this seat since 1993. Following the Conservative Party`s election as Canada`s new government in 2006, he was appointed Chief Government Whip and sworn into the Privy Council of Canada. In January of 2007, Prime Minister Harper promoted Jay to the Ministry as a Secretary of State.

Going up against Jay Hill, Betty Beckering is running for the NDP. The Liberals and the Green Party have not announced candidates in this area, however, Hillary Crowley has been named as a "potential" candidate for the Greens.
