The Fort St John Flyers are trilled to announce that Hockey Canada has awarded the 102nd Allan Cup in 2010 to the organization.

The Allan Cup is the Canadian Senior AAA Championship and began in the early 1900s as the Amateur version of the Stanley Cup. The tournament to be played the third week of April 2010 will feature 6 teams from across Canada (including the Fort St John Flyers) who will have to qualify through regional playdowns.

Fort St. John was scheduled to host the 2011 Allan Cup, but following some changes in Eastern Canada, the club was awarded the 2010 event. It appears as through teams from Quebec, who had the opportunity to host the event, dropped out making room for the next part of the country to host the event in 2010

This has got to be the biggest event to come to the City of Fort St John in its history. For more info on the Allan Cup visit www.allancup.ca
