Canfor operates the sawmill in Fort St. John and a pulp mill in Taylor.

Mark Feldinger says the company doesn’t believe the Fort St. John operation has similar concerns to Fort Nelson.

The company has struggled financially, particularly in the last two years, but did see improvement earlier this year when they announced a net income of $64.2 million for the second quarter of 2008. Still for the first six months of 2008 Canfor’s net loss was 21.2 million compared to 81.5 million in 2007.

As for the other operation Peace Valley OSB, General Manager Chris Baby says they are working to deal with the slow downs.

Currently Canfor & Canfor Pulp Income Fund employ 7300 direct employees and about 2000 contractors.
