Northeast News sold to parent company of the Alaska Highway News

Bruce Lantz has begun his campaign for mayor of Fort St. John, after announcing his candidacy on Thursday.

The Local journalist said last week he believes residents of Fort St. John are looking for choice in the upcoming civic election, and he plans to provide that choice.

There has been some question in the past week as to whether or not Lantz still owns the Northeast News.

Documents obtained by Moose FM news last week, show Lantz no longer listed as a director of the company, with Jonathon Kennedy and Orest Smysnuik, both of Glacier Media listed as CEO & President, and CFO, respectively. Glacier Media is the parent company of the Alaska Highway News.

But, when Lantz appeared on Moose FM’s issues and answers on Monday morning, he attemped to clear up the misunderstanding.

Lantz says while campaigning he will have no part in the operations of the paper, and if he wins the race, he will wash his hands of both the ownership and operations.
