Fire fighters were at the scene of a large wind driven brush fire, south of Fort St. John, for about five hours last night.

The Fort St. John and Charlie Lake Fire Departments and BC Forestry were all involved in containing the blaze.

The fire started about six o’clock and reportedly stretched from the lagoons south of the city, to the "point" and then, nearly to the Old Fort Road, where it runs along the Peace River.

Fort St. John Fire Captain Greg Nichols confirms, there’s reason to believe the blaze may have been the result of tires being set on fire and, then rolled down a hill….and he says, it’s not the first time its happened…

Captain Nichols says there were no injuries as the result of fighting the fire and, no structures were damaged.
