As the cold weather approaches, Fort St. John is beginning to see a reduction in the number of building permits issued.

28 building permits were issued in September, with a total construction value of just over $3.5 million dollars. That’s down from last month’s total of $5 million.

Total value is still slightly ahead of last year’s numbers through September: this year’s cost to date is just under $64 million, about $4 million more than last year.

However, this year’s total would be considerably lower were it not for the $23 million dollars added to the total when the permit for the Enerplex was issued last March.

The number of permits issued to date is down from last year’s 259 to only 241 this year.
