Two Lanes of the Alaska Highway are Now Open

The Fort St. John RCMP have now confirmed that the Alaska Highway has been re-opened in both directions following an accident early Friday afternoon.

At approximately 6pm the RCMP opened the road to single lane alternating traffic while the investigation at the scene continued. A pick up truck and what the RCMP are now calling a larger commercial vehicle collided at mile 120 of the Alaska Highway.

The accident occured shortly after 1pm and caused the death of one person. No names have been released pending notification of next of kin. The RCMP say more details will be released at a later date.
