The RCMP have not released any official details yet, but the RCMP were chasing a white Toyota Tundra in the Northwest area of the community. At times the pursuit reached speeds of over 70 km in town. The RCMP have now confirmed that the chase started because of a car jacking north of Pink Mountain.
The chase came to an end at 112th Ave and 102nd Street after an unmarked RCMP vehicle collided head on with the Tundra at approximately 10pm. The RCMP officer was uninjured but the suspect had to be taken away by ambulance. The suspect was not fataly injured and should recover from his injuries. The suspect vehicle did have at least 2 bullet holes in the driver side door and several witnesses report hearing gun shots.
We anticipate the RCMP will release more information Wednesday morning. If you have any photos or information about the chase send them to [email protected]
