Fort St. John Fire Crews, the RCMP and BC Ambulance responded to a fire at a single family dwelling at approximately 4:30 Sunday afternoon.

According to the Fire Department the fire started in the basement and quickly spread to the main floor and the attic of the house. Thankfully everyone including the family pets were able to evacuate from the home without injuries.

Deputy Fire Chief Curtis Redpath says the fire travelled quickly and caused extensive damage to the house even though the fire department knocked down the fire quickly. The investigation into what caused the fire will continue Monday, but at this time it looks as though it was accidental.

The residents of the home are staying with Friends and Family tonight. Insurance companies will make the final call, but it seems as though the house may have been destroyed despite the fact the outer walls remain intact.
