U.S. kidnappers found in Dawson Creek hear charges today

A couple who were arrested last month in Dawson Creek for allegedly kidnapping a 10-year-old American girl were in court today in Huron, South Dakota for a hearing.

Perry and Eileen Sharp, who are the stepfather and biological mother of the girl, had been living as Bobby and Dorothy Evans in Dawson Creek, when an aquaintance recognized the person he knew as Bobby as a suspect on America’s Most Wanted.

Shanae Peterson, the young girl, had been living as Shannon Evans in Dawson Creek. Her biological father, who has sole custody, says she was supposed to have been returned to him two years ago after attending summer school in another state.

The judge presiding over the hearing reduced the Sharps’ bonds to five thousand dollars.
