2 people are dead following another accident south of Fort Nelson

On November 1st, 2008 at approximately 10:15 am, an RCMP member came across the scene of a two vehicle collision approximately 80 KM south of Fort Nelson. Initial reports from the officer is that a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer unit collided head on. Two persons were pronounced dead at the scene and one is injured and will be transported to the hospital in Fort Nelson for treatment. The cause of this collision is not known at this time, however road conditions are expected to be a factor. An RCMP traffic analyst is en-route to the scene from Fort St. John. The names of the deceased are not being released at this time, pending the notification of next of kin. The RCMP and BC Coroner’s Service continue to investigate. Highway 97, also known as the Alaska Highway, is closed and will remain closed for several hours. Continue to watch Energeticcity.ca for the latest updates.
