Clayhurst Road closed because of overturned Tanker Truck

The driver suffered undisclosed injuries this morning, when a tanker truck overturned on the Clayhurst Road near the 240 Road.

The RCMP puts the time of the roll-over at about 7.45. It adds the truck was transporting a H2S contaminated substance and, its tanks are suspected to be leaking. The trucking company and a clean-up crew were called to scene and, at last word they were assessing the risk to the public.

They’ve also initiating an attempt to transfer the contaminated substance from the compromised tanker, into a secure one. A section of the Clayhurst road, extending about about two kilometers on either side of the crash site, is closed. However, the Clayhurst Bridge remains open and unaffected by the roll-over…and, traffic is being rerouted around the crash site on the 240 Road.

The injured driver has been transferred to Fort St. John hospital. We expect further updates from the RCMP.
