Officials for Conoco-Phillips say a fire that broke out on a rig near Groundbirch on Tuesday is still ablaze.

Company spokesperson Rob Evans says the size of the flame has diminished significantly overnight, and the fire is now contained to the site. Evans says air quality monitors are not picking up any adverse readings, but the company is still holding a public information session at the McLeod Community Hall at 7pm tonight.

The fire broke out just before 4am Tuesday morning after the well experienced an influx of gas late Monday afternoon. The site was quickly evacuated and no one was injured in the fire.
