Flyers beat Mustangs 9-3

The Senior Flyers skated to another lop-sided win on Thursday night.

The expansion Hythe Mustangs tried hard, but the puck was in their end most of the night, and when the final buzzer sounded the score was 9-3.

Jeff Shipton led the way with a hat-trick, his first as a Flyer. Shipton has been clicking well with his linemates, particularly Clayton Bahm, though Jeff says that shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Shipton’s three were the last three the Flyers scored, with others scored by Jeff Kalb, Luke Middleton, Tyler Loney, Matt Shuya, Paul Weins, and David Alexander.

Troy Hunt stopped 25 of the 28 shots he faced, and chipped in two assists.

Despite playing a new team, Hunt says he wasn’t too surprised with the game the Mustangs brought.

Three of the Fort St. John goals were scored on the powerplay, while the final shots were a respectable 36-28 in favour of the home team.

Next up for the Flyers is a road game on Saturday against High-Prairie. The game will not be broadcast on the radio, as Moose FM will be covering the Huskies road trip to Whitecourt / Slave Lake.
