One of the area’s top RCMP officials has announced he’s leaving his position at the end of this week.

Detachment Commander Keith Redl with the Fort St. John RCMP has accepted a posting in Ottawa. Redl has served as the Detachment Commander in this area for about 2.5 years. At Monday night’s council meeting, Comm. Redl thanked the mayor and council, saying their support had helped the RCMP to reduce Fort St. John’s crime rate by over 30 per cent.

The RCMP has not yet appointed a new Detachment Commander, but Comm. Redl says the detachment will be working with the city in the coming weeks to find an appropriate replacement.
