Here are some more local hockey results from the past weekend, from Fort St. John’s Midget AA Flyers, Bantam AA Flyers, PeeWee B Flyers, and Bantam B Flyers.
The Fort St. John Petrolium Association Midget AA Flyers played 5 games at a tourney in Prince George. They went 1-4 over the course of the weekend, with the lone win coming against the host Prince George cougars. Other games included a 4-3 loss to Vernon, an 8-4 loss to Vanderhoof, a 6-4 loss to Kamloops, and a 4-0 loss in the final game – a rematch against Prince George. The Midget AA Flyers continue to improve, and are looking forward to more consistency in the weeks to come. Good luck Flyers.
The Knights of Columbes AA Bantam Flyers won both of their games on the weekend.
Game: #1 Saturday, November 22, 2003. 3:15 pm. The Knights of Columbus AA Bantam Flyers pounded the Dawson Creek KFC Bantam AA Canucks 6 – 0. Goaltender Daimon Derouin played exceptionally well achieving his first season shutout. The game turned in the Flyers favour when the first goal was scored by Blair Karasuik and assisted by Cayle Bell at 9:37 in the first period. The second goal was scored by Jade McMullin two minutes later, assisted by Jordan Harder and Brent Loewen. McMullin scored again at 3:51 with Karasuik assisting. Cayle Bell scored the fourth and fifth goals in the second period. Assisting was Kyle Leonard. Jordan Harder scored in the third period at 14:05 giving the K of C Flyers a 6 – 0 lead. This was a satisfying finish as the Flyers were beaten in their first season game against the Canucks by 3 – 1.
Game #2 Sunday’s game against the Junior Canucks was tighter but the K of C Flyers prevailed to beat the opposition by a 3 – 2 margin. Fort St. John displayed aggressive play throughout the game and had some excellent scoring chances. Fort St. John goals were scored by Hayden Mohr, Shane Rutherford and Jade McMullin. Assists were given by Jade McMullin, Hayden Mohr, and Jordan Harder. Goalie, Turner Gullikson had an excellent day stopping 28 out of 30 shots on goal.
The Knights of Columbus AA Bantam Flyers play against Peace River at the Peace River Arena on Saturday, November 29th. At 2:45 pm. They play again on Sunday at 2:45 pm. At Nampa Arena in Peace River.
The VE Brandl PeeWee B Flyers lost their first All Peace game against the undefeated Sexsmith Pee Wee Vipers on Saturday to bring their record to 4-1. The Flyers had some trouble getting going and fell behind 8-3 before coming on strong half way through the second period, led by some timely checks and two goals from Gavin Gould. Salina Edwards scored once and assisted two others in a strong effort. Jordan Kosinsky, Jarod Lang, Ricky Bateman, and Emerson Loewen all scored for the Flyers to bring them within one 8-7, before the Vipers scored an empty net goal to finish the Flyers off with only 18 seconds left in the game. The Flyers are off to Grande Cache next Saturday for an All Peace Game.
The Flint Bantam B Flyers played two games, posting a road win and a home loss. On Saturday, the team played in Beaverlodge, losing 7-1, with the only goal scored by Jayton Wieler and assited by Blake Giesbrecht. On Sunday, they hosted Dawson creek and won 7-2. Goals were scored by Calvin Albersworth, Jayton Wieler, Jarred Sawka, Derek Donist, Zack Zabinsky, Dylan Demedeiros, and Justin Taylor.
