Tembec Curtails Production in Chetwynd

Tembec has announced a series of coordinated production curtailments including curtailments in Chetwynd.

The Chetwynd, BC operation will shut down from November 15 to December 1.  Tembec has also announced the following curtailments at it’s other operations in Canada:

*the Temcell mill located in Temiscaming, Quebec will curtail production by shutting one line of production until November 30

*the Matane, Quebec mill from December 1 to the 27

*the Skookumchuk, BC softwood Kraft mill will take a two-week shut beginning on November 9 and will resume production on November 22.

*La Sarre and Taschereau sawmill complexes will be idled for a minimum of two months, commencing on November 14th

The combined effect of these outages will reduce pulp production by 38,575 tonnes.

Tembec indicated that these decisions were in response to challenging market conditions and the need to manage capacity, inventory levels and working capital in a prudent and disciplined manner.
