Transportation and Infrastructure Minister asks motorists to use caution this weekend

After a weekend of multiple serious car accidents on local roadways, Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon is urging motorists to think carefully when making their travel plans for the upcoming weekend and holiday. Aside from slowing down and allowing more time for travel when driving in poor conditions, Falcon also reminded motorists to maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and pack an emergency kit, including a blanket, flashlight, emergency rations and warm clothing and footwear. He added that all vehicles driving in winter conditions should be using winter tires. Last Friday and Saturday saw nearly a dozen accidents in the area, at times closing sections of the Cecil Lake Road, Highway 29 and the Alaska Highway.
