Urgent – RCMP search for man accused of attempted Murder


The RCMP are currently searching for a male who is wanted on an outstanding warrant of arrest. The male, Gary MILLS, is currently charged with Attempted Murder Using a Firearm, Break and Enter, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited, Impaired Driving and Flight from Police in relation to a violent incident that occurred in Fort St. John British Columbia on June 29, 2007.

On November 19, 2008 it is alleged that Gary MILLS failed to attend a scheduled meeting with his Bail Supervisor, in Powell River, BC. Subsequently on this date, a Order of Commital Warrant was issued for the arrest of Gary MILLS.

Powell River RCMP immediately attempted to locate MILLS at his last known address and have continued over the weekend to locate and arrest Gary MILLS, without success.

Powell River RCMP submitted a report to Crown Counsel and have received an unendorsed warrant of arrest for Gary MILLS for failing to abide by his release conditions.

The RCMP wishes to distribute this advisory to the public as they consider Gary MILLS to be a danger to the public and in breach of his court ordered release conditions.

A photograph of Gary MILLS has been attached to this release. The RCMP are seeking the media’s assistance in distributing the photograph of Gary MILLS and this Public Advisory. Please be advised, If you see Gary MILLS, please do not approach him and call Police immediately.


On June 29, 2007 it is alleged that the accused broke into a residence in Fort St. John and waited inside the residence until the occupants arrived home. Once home the male and female occupants were confronted the accused gunmen, who then allegedly shot the male occupant in the face area fled the scene. The Fort St. John RCMP searched throughout the day for the suspect and located him driving a vehicle at approximately 6:30 pm. He fled from Police and later stopped his vehicle in a rural area of Fort St. John. After three hours of negotiating with the suspect, the Fort St. John RCMP arrested Gary MILLS, 58 years of age, and brought him into custody without further incident.

Gary MILLS was held in custody and later released by a Judge to reside in Powell River, British Columbia, and abide by several strict conditions. The Powell River RCMP have been continuously monitoring Gary MILLS since his release to ensure his compliance with the court order conditions.

A previous media advisory was distributed on May 8, 2008 after Gary MILLS failed to abide by his release conditions and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 14, 2008 Gary MILLS was arrested on his outstanding warrants in Powell River, B.C. Gary MILLS remained in custody until June 26, 2008, at which time he was released from custody and ordered to abide by several strict conditions.
