Baby says Canfor and Louisiana Pacific were disappointed to hear he was leaving, but also appreciative of the work he’s done here, and understanding of the opportunity Chris had been given.

It’s a new direction for him, after spending his entire career up until now in the forest sector, and he admits the current downturn has had an impact on the potential for both him, and the industry.

But, he does add, while 2009 will still likely be a tough year, he thinks the Peace Valley OSB plant is well positioned for success in the long-term.

As for how long Baby thinks the current downturn will last…

Baby’s last day on the job will be January 16th. He will be replaced in the interim by Maintainance Manager Don Soderlund, with the search for a permanent General Manager already underway.
