Denny Morrison 2nd and 3rd so far at Canadian Championships

Fort St. John’s Denny Morrison reached the podium twice on the first two days, at the Canadian Single-Distance Speed Skating Championships.

On Saturday, Denny placed third in the Men’s 500 metres, behind Edmonton’s Jamie Gregg, and Manitoba’s Kyle Parrott.

On Sunday, Regina’s Lucas Makowsky won the men’s 5000 metres, with Denny Morrison placing second, Steven Elm in third, and Denny’s brother Jay Morrison in fourth.

On the women’s side, Shannon Rempel won Saturday’s 500 metre race, with Christine Nesbitt in second, and Kim Weger in third.

On Sunday, Ottawa’s Kristina Groves won the women’s 3000 metres, with Clara Hughes in second, Brittany Schussler in third, and Kristina Groves in fourth.

The competition continues Monday with the Men’s and Women’s 1,000-metres, and the Men’s and Women’s 1,500-metres on Tuesday, and the Women’s 5,000- metre and Men’s 10,000-metres on Wednesday.
