Fires on Christmas and Boxing Day in FSJ

The Fort St. John Fire Department was called out to holiday fires, in the city, on both Christmas and Boxing Day. Chief Fred Burrows says, the first one was reported at 7.55 Christmas night, in a second story residential unit, at Heritage Manor One…located at 9819, 107th avenue… [asset|aid=757|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=19e07498496aaa72f86e10a5078a970b-Fred-1_2_Pub.mp3] There’s no word on the condition of the elderly man taken to hospital by ambulance… However, fire investigators have determined the cause of the fire… [asset|aid=758|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=19e07498496aaa72f86e10a5078a970b-Fred-2_2_Pub.mp3] In addition, before they left the scene, fire-fighters responded to another second floor alarm, in the same building, when one of the evacuated residents left some cooking on a stove resulting in a minor fire. There’s no estimate on the damage to the building but, that is not the case in a Boxing Day fire, in the cities east end… Chief Burrows says fire-fighters responded to this one about 11.20pm at residence in the 89 hundred block, of 107-A Avenue… [asset|aid=759|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=19e07498496aaa72f86e10a5078a970b-Fred-3_1_Pub.mp3] In this case, there were no injuries reported but, the chief estimates damage could run as high, as 15 to 20 thousand dollars.
