Fromer Dawson Creek resident named companion to the Order of Canada

Former Dawson Creek resident Ben Heppner has been named as a companion of the Order of Canada.

The ceremony was headed by Gov. General Michaelle Jean on Tuesday.  A total of 60 new appointments were made including 14 officers and 42 members.
 

Ben is known as a world famous heldentenor and has become the world’s prime Wagnerian singer and many say one of the best in history.

Heppner, 52, was raised in Dawson Creek, studied at UBC, and sang briefly with the Vancouver Chamber Choir.
