Huskies wrap up December with a win

After the season, an easy win over lowly Sexsmith may not seem like a big deal.

But, the win was just what the doctor ordered for Fort St. John on Saturday night, as they finally got some separation from a team they’ve struggled with, posting a convincing 9-3 win.

Cody Kalb has struggled lately (by his standards), scoring only 2 goals and 1 assist in his last 5 games, but equalled that total on the night, with 2+1, to bring his season total to 21 goals (43 points) in 25 games so far.

Steven Fast and Kole Norris also got their names on the scoresheet, with 3 points each, while Payden Wongstedt had a goal and a fight, despite some recent concussion problems.

More importantly, the Huskies get 2 key points in the battle that has developed for second place in the league. They got some help, with Dawson Creek posting a win (5-1 in Beaverlodge) and a loss (5-1 in whitecourt), and Peace River unable to play their game in Whitecourt due to mechanical issues with their bus.

The Huskies also get that warm, fuzzy feeling from winning your last game, to tide them over until the season starts again in January. And that makes for a Merry Christmas, and hopefully, a happier new year.
